Construction worker found dead after fishing in Carmen
A CONSTRUCTION worker was found dead near Luyang Creek in Barangay Luyang, Carmen Town, North Cebu on Monday morning June 20, 2022.
The deceased was later identified as Rosalito Bayo Lumen, 45, from Barangay Cahumayan, Danao City.
Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of the Carmen police station, said he received a phone call from Coast Guard officer John Clifford de Niña around 11:45 a.m. informing them of the body found near Luyang Creek.
The victim is believed to have drowned while going fishing on Sunday, which he usually did on his day off, to feed his family.
Gingoyon said Lumen’s son, Jonel, also showed up at their station on Monday morning after their father failed to return home.
Jonel told police they waited until 11 p.m. on Sunday but their father had not yet returned.
Relatives of the deceased were advised to have the corpse autopsied to determine the cause of death.
“Naghuwat pa mi sa desisyon sa pamilya kung ipa autopsy ba nila ang biktima, mao dili sa mi ka release information ug kung naa ba gyud criminal act o wala (We are still waiting for the family to decide on the autopsy of the victim, c That’s why we couldn’t yet disclose information on whether or not there was foul play),” Gingoyon said.
