A CONSTABLE assigned to Bacolod City Police Station 2 is now in ‘hot water’ after being involved in a shooting that injured two people, including a construction worker, shortly after midnight on Sunday June 19.

Major Ritchie Gohee, Commanding Officer of Police Station 4, said Police Master Sergeant Jeff Desucatan of Barangay Alijis has been arrested.

Desucatan allegedly shot and killed Richard Jimenez, 30, a construction worker and resident of the city’s Barangay 26 along Rizal Street following an argument.

Investigation showed Desucatan was walking when Jimenez confronted and threatened him.

Desucatan took his gun and fired warning shots, but Jimenez took a bottle and tried to harm him, prompting the officer to shoot him with his left foot to incapacitate him.

“Jimenez was jealous because his ex-girlfriend was a friend of Desucatan,” Gohee said.

Besides Jimenez, passer Jorem Sibug, 24, of Barangay 27, who was walking was also hit by a stray ball.

Jimenez and Sibug were taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where they are currently recovering.

Police recovered three live ammunition and four rounds fired from a 9mm pistol from the crime scene.

After the incident, Gohee said Desucatan tried to hide in a house in Barangay 26, but then voluntarily surrendered and handed over his service firearm.

Desucatan could face charges of frustrated homicide and reckless recklessness resulting in bodily harm, Gohee pointed out.

On top of that, Desucatan could also face administrative charges to be filed by the Philippine National Police, he added.
