Injured and rescued workers at the Ochsner Lafayette General construction site
An equipment failure at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center injured two construction workers.
According to the Lafayette Fire Department, one person was seriously injured and another was slightly injured.
Both were rescued by firefighters after the breakdown at the site on Monday afternoon. A photo provided by LFD shows that the scaffolding holding the workers down has failed.
The stage is now clear.
After the failures, workers hung in their safety harnesses.
Firefighters from the St. George Fire Department in Baton Rouge, who were in town for Alex Bourque’s funeral procession, helped rescue the workers.
General Ochsner Lafayette said: “There was an accident today at an Ochsner LGMC construction site. Two construction workers were injured and are receiving medical attention. Out of respect for the patients and their families, we will not have no further information to share.”
