Suspect arrested for construction theft

WARRICK CO., Ind. (WEHT) – A man was arrested on April 1 for allegedly stealing construction equipment.

The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) says on April 1, WCSO detectives arrested 36-year-old Nathen Wayne Browning for burglary and theft from construction sites. Many of those items have been salvaged, WCSO says.

WCSO says the investigation began in March after the sheriff’s office received numerous reports of burglaries at residential construction sites and theft of items. Law enforcement officials say that during the month, 13 sites reported thefts. As the investigation continued, Browning was considered a suspect, WCSO says.

Law enforcement officials say Browning was arrested outside a construction site on April 1 by motorized patrol units on unrelated charges. WCSO says further investigation led detectives to execute a search warrant in Hatfield, Indiana. Law enforcement officials say that during the search of the property, a large number of these items stolen from several construction sites were discovered. WCSO says people working on construction sites should check their inventory and contact the Criminal Investigations Division if they believe they have recently been the victim of theft.

More people and charges are expected in this case, but WCSO says Browning’s current charges are burglary and theft. Browning was taken to Warrick County Jail and his bail was set at $3,000 cash, WCSO said.
